Reveille at 6, walk on deck to see the convoy coming in from India, which did not finish till the end of the day, it had two warships with it as escort.
Many of the Indian troops signalled to us complimentary remarks, some cheered. On several of the ships were native cavalry, we could see the horse boxes and in some cases we could see them leading horses along the deck.
Physical drill on deck at 9am. The convoy was still arriving all day it seemed never ending, it was one of the largest transportation of troops in a single convoy on record, between 20 and 30 ships.
Spend the evening on boat deck and in smoke room, retire at 8.30 pm. Lights out 9.0pm.
